COM 2213 Foundations of Communication T/R 12:30-1:45

Course Description

This course will introduce majors to the discipline of communication and to the communication program at UTSA. Students will be introduced to fundamental concepts in speech communication, technical communication, electronic media, and public relations. Students will develop essential skills, including the basic strategies and technologies used for information access, retrieval, and processing.

Course Description

COM 2433: Editing, MWF, 8-8:50

Course Description

Communication 2433 (cross-listed as English 2433) is a course in copyediting, preparing an author's manuscript for print by making necessary revisions in mechanics, diction, syntax, format, and design.

Requirements

Students will edit several actual manuscripts using both traditional editing symbols and using MS Word. In addition there will be class exercises and reading assignments. For extra credit, students can also turn in errors that they find in other printed sources. The class also has a midterm and a final. Grades will be based on the total number of points amassed during the semester.
