Joey F. George

Joey George is a Professor of Information Systems and the Thomas L. Williams Jr. Eminent Scholar in Information Systems in the Management Information Systems Department in the College of Business at Florida State University . He earned his bachelor's degree at Stanford University in 1979 and his Ph.D. in management at the University of California at Irvine in 1986. His research interests include the detection of deceptive computer-mediated communication, computer-based monitoring, and group support systems. His research has been supported by the U.S. National Science Foundation and the U.S. Air Force Office of Scientific Research.

Dr. George has published over 40 articles in such journals as Information Systems Research, MIS Quarterly, Communications of the ACM, Journal of MIS, and Communication Research.

He has chaired 21 doctoral committees and served on 30 other doctoral committees since 1987.

Dr. George has won several teaching awards, including an FSU University Teaching Award for 1995-96 and an FSU Teaching Incentive Program Award for 1996-97.

Dr. George is co-author of four textbooks for Prentice Hall (Modern Systems Analysis and Design; Essentials of Systems Analysis and Design; Object-Oriented Systems Analysis and Design, and Information Systems Project Management: A Process and Team Approach) and editor of a fifth book, Computers in Society: Privacy, Ethics and the Internet.

He was appointed the Editor-in-Chief of Communications of the Association for Information Systems (CAIS), with a term running from 2006-2008. He currently also serves as an Associate Editor for Information Systems Research, a position he also held from 1996-2000. He served as both Senior Editor and Associate Editor for MIS Quarterly.

Dr. George served as the Conference Co-Chair for the 2001 International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) in New Orleans, LA, as Co-Chair of the Doctoral Consortium for ICIS 2003 in Seattle, WA, and as Vice Chair of the Program Committee for the 1999 ICIS in Charlotte, NC.

Joseph Valacich
Washington State University

Joseph S. Valacich is The George and Carolyn Hubman Distinguished Professor in MIS and the inaugural Marian E. Smith Presidential Endowed Chair at Washington State University. He was previously an Associate Professor with tenure (early) at Indiana University, Bloomington, and was named the Sanjay Subhedar Faculty Fellow. He has had visiting faculty appointments at the University of Arizona, City University of Hong Kong, Buskerud College (Norway), The Norwegian University of Life Sciences, Riga Technical University (Latvia), and the Helsinki School of Economics and Business. He received the Ph.D. degree from the University of Arizona (MIS), and the M.B.A. and B.S. (computer science) degrees from the University of Montana. His teaching interests include systems analysis and design, collaborative computing, project management, and management of information systems.

Professor Valacich served on the national task forces to design IS '97 and 2002: The Model Curriculum and Guidelines for Undergraduate Degree Programs in Information Systems as well as MSIS 2000 and 2006: The Master of Science in Information Systems Model Curriculum. He also served on the Executive Committee, funded by the National Science Foundation, to define the IS Program Accreditation Standards and on the Board of Directors for CSAB (formally, the Computing Sciences Accreditation Board), representing the Association for Information Systems (AIS). He was the general conference co-chair for the 2003 International Conference on Information Systems (ICIS) in Seattle and was the vice-chair of ICIS 1999 in Charlotte, NC .

Dr. Valacich has conducted numerous corporate training and executive development programs for organizations, including: AT&T, Boeing, Dow Chemical, EDS, Exxon, FedEx, General Motors, Microsoft, and Xerox. He previously served on the editorial boards of MIS Quarterly (two terms) and Information Systems Research, and is currently serving on the boards at Decision Science and Small Group Research. His primary research interests include technology-mediated collaboration, human-computer interaction, mobile and emerging technologies, e-business, and distance education. He is a prolific researcher, with publications in numerous prestigious journals, including: MIS Quarterly, Information Systems Research, Management Science, Academy of Management Journal, Communications of the ACM, Decision Science, Communications of the AIS, Journal of AIS, Organizational Behavior and Human Decision Processes, Journal of Applied Psychology, Journal of Management Information System, and many others. He is a co-author of the best-selling Modern Systems Analysis and Design (5th Edition), as well as Essentials of Systems Analysis and Design (3rdEdition), Object-Oriented Systems Analysis and Design (2nd Edition), and Information Systems Project Management (1st Edition); all are published by Prentice Hall.

Jeffrey Hoffer
University of Dayton

Jeffrey Hoffer has acted as a Professor in the Department of MIS, Operations Management, and Decision Sciences at the University of Dayton since1995. He has also acted as the Chair of the Department of MIS, Operations Management, and Decision Sciences since 1995. Prior to employment at Dayton, Hoffer built his teaching resume at Indiana University, Case Western Reserve University and the Helsinki School of Economics and Business.

Jeffrey Hoffer graduated Cum Laude from Miami University in Oxford Ohio with a degree in Mathematics while minoring in Systems Analysis. After receiving his bachelors Hoffer decided to further his education, receiving a doctorate in Operations Research, while minoring in Computer Science and Applied Probability and Statistics.

Currently, Hoffer is a pioneer in the fields of Systems analysis and design methodologies (comparison of structured and object–oriented methods), Database design and administration (re–engineering organizations via data modeling), Human–computer interaction (usability of tools and techniques for systems analysis and design) and Data warehousing management (data warehouse design and data quality).

Apart from classroom, Hoffer has worked to better the field of MIS. He Founded the International Conference on Information Systems (Service Award in 1989). Founded, TIMS College on Information Systems and served as Chairman from 1974-1976. And most recently he has served as Co-chair to the MIS Department Chairs Breakfast at ICIS Conference.

Jeffrey Hoffer has also published his work in several different areas.
