The Analytical Reading Inventory is a comprehensive
K-12 informal reading inventory which includes narrative and expository
passages. It can be used in a variety of reading methods classes.
The text contains everything future teachers, inservice teachers,
reading specialists, and psychometrists need to administer a thorough,
one-on-one analysis of the reading strategies used by elementary,
middle, and high school students - all students, gifted through
remedial. Extensive field-testing and years of classroom use have
made teachers confident that the results obtained through the inventory
are both valid and reliable. The inventory renders accurate information
about each student's levels of instruction, strategies to recognize
words and comprehend text, and oral and silent reading performance.
NEWIncludes, with every copy of the inventory,
an audio tape with a case study and other reading passages for practice
in administering inventory. New Instructions: Step-by-Step
make learning how to use ARI easy.
NEWContains new comprehension questions which
cause the reader to relate to the text either at a literal level or
at a level which requires more thinking.
NEWAssesses a student's reading interests,
attitudes, and habits with two reading interviews.
NEWPackages a separate reader's booklet for
the examiner's and student's convenience. The passages in the booklet
match line-for-line with the Teacher Record passages. As the
student reads, the examiner knows the student's exact place in the
text; consequently the examiner can code all miscues accurately.
NEWProvides a subsection called Examiner's
Brief which contains a description of each component of a comprehensive
ARI assessment session.
NEWRevised passages at narrative levels eight,
nine, and others.
FEATURES
Includes Teacher Records in a user-friendly layout
with easy-to-use grids which allow the examiner to conveniently collect
data.
Provides an audio taped case study which allows hands-on
experience in administering and interpreting the results.
Contains a comprehensive, easy-to-use Student Summary
Record and a Class Summary Record.
Covers three narrative forms: primer through nine and two
expository forms: one through nine.
