This text presents the basic concepts used for modelling and analyzing
information in organizations, within the context of requirements analysis
modelling for information systems development. It compares and contrasts four
internationally recognized methods: SSADM, MERISE, Information Engineering and
MEIN. A standard framework is used to analyze the methods and show how concepts
may be used in an integrated way to build a specification. These four
structured methods are then compared with the developing object oriented
approach to requirements analysis (00A) and conclusions are drawn as to the
usefulness of both types of approach.
