Mandatory PCs at Colleges Less than 10 percent of colleges require students to purchase a personal computer. However, that number is on the rise as more schools install wireless networking throughout campus and PCs are integrated more tightly into curriculums. Educators feel that professors have more flexibility to incorporate technology when all students have a PC and have ready access to the Internet and class resources, no matter where they are on campus.
