We illustrate with some computations. Press MENU 1 to access the RUN-MAT screen.
Exponents are entered using the ^ key. For example, 53 is entered as 5^3.
For exponents base e, press SHIFT ex (located above the ln key). To compute e7, press SHIFT ex, then enter ( 7 ) EXE.
For exponents base 10, press SHIFT 10x (located above the log key). To compute 107, press SHIFT 10x, then enter ( 7 ) EXE.
There is a special cube root key located above the ( key. To find the cube root of 531, press SHIFT 3 ( 5 3 1 ) EXE. Alternatively, one may enter 5 3 1 ^ ( 1 ¸ 3 ) EXE.
To compute a radical or numerical root, one may use the general root key (located above the ^ key) or use the algebraic equivalence that . For example, to compute , press
5 SHIFT x ( 2 0 0 1 ) EXE
( 2 0 0 1 ) ^ ( 1 5 ) EXE
