Basic Calculation
Binary operations (adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing)
are entered in the calculator as you would write them on paper.
For example, to add 34 and 7 press

Unary operations (operations that require only one input) are also
entered as you would write them. To find the square root of 25, press

The order of operations is programmed into the calculator.
It performs the operations just as in algebra. The expression,
1 + 2 x 3 is calculated as 1 + (2 x 3). Since parentheses always have
the highest priority, use extra parentheses whenever in doubt. The expressions
(9 + 16)1/2 and 91/2 + 161/2
are not equal.
The negative sign should not be confused with the subtraction sign.
When subtracting two numbers use the
key and when negating a number use the
key.
