To perform an F-Test on the calculator there is one thing you must remember. The data with the largest variance goes into list 1 and the other into list 2.

No matter what order the text puts the data in, on the calculator the data set that has the **largest variance is called
sample 1!**

This only applies to F-Test on the calculator.

The Hypothesis for the F-Test are Ho: s1 = s2 Ha: s1 s2 , and we will reject Ho if our p-value < .10

We will once again use the **STAT TESTS** Menu.

Press:

Once again we choose Data as we will enter the statistics ourselves. Note the order. The calculator always puts List 2 on top(it must be the sample with the largest variance) |

After you adjust all fields for your problem Arrow Down to Calculate and Press:

As can be seen from the screen, the p-value is .007 which is less than .10 therefore we At the _ = .10 level the two variances are not equal. |

**Example 2**

For this problem we begin by entering the data into the calculator.

I entered the Sample1 data into List 1 and Sample2 data into List 2. After you have entered all the data
Press: |

**Arrow Left** to **TESTS** and **Arrow up** to
**D: 2-SampFTest...**

Press:

I choose Data so the calculator will read from the lists.

This line must match your Ha. |

After you change all fields for your problem Arrow Down to Calculate and Press:

As can be seen from the screen,
the p-value is .951 which is not less than .01 therefore we **do not reject Ho**.
