## Maximum Option

The maximum option is used to find a relative maximum. While viewing a graph, press
.

Press
to obtain the maximum option.

(The "1" in the upper right-hand
corner indicates finding a relative maximum on the graph of function one.)
Press .

The coordinates of the maximum appear at the bottom of the screen. In this
case the maximum point is about (4.9,2.8).

**Note:** Since a function may have more than one relative maximum, you may need to specify an interval
containing the desired high point on the graph.

To set the lower bound press
and move the cursor
to the *left* of the relative maximum and press .
To set the upper bound press
and move the cursor
to the *right* of the relative maximum and press .

There should be two small triangles at the top pointing towards each other. These
settings can be adjusted by reselecting lower or upper and will go away when you change your window.
The TI-85 will look for the relative maximum between these markers.
