B. ALPHA and alpha

The TI-86 has both upper and lower case letters available for you to enter. To enter upper case letters, enter . To enter lower case letters, enter .

You can use characters to store values for use on the home screen and in programs.

If you want to enter more than one character, you can use ALPHA-lock by pressing to enter upper case letters. To cancel, press .

To use alpha-lock, press , and you can enter as many lower case letters as you need. To cancel, press .

You can switch from ALPHA-lock to alpha-lock by pressing the keys . To switch from alpha-lock to ALPHA-lock, just press .
