II. Menu Keys - Keys that offer choices

D. MATH Menu

5. MISC (miscellaneous) Menu

This menu has several really useful functions. In fact, you may want to put some of them in your custom menu.

a. sum list This will evaluate the sum of all the elements in a list. Examples are given in list ops.
Press .

b. prod list This will evaluate the product of all the elements in a list. Examples are given in list ops.
Press .

c. seq (expression, variable, begin, end, step) This function will return the elements in a sequence defined by the expression over the indicated interval. The step is optional with the default step equal to 1. More examples are given in list ops.
Press
.

Example: Find the first four terms in the sequence defined by .

d. lcm (value A, value B) Finds the least common multiple of the two values.
Press
.

e. gcd (value A, value B) Finds the greatest common divisor of the two values.
Press
.

f. value This displays the value as a fraction, if the value can be written as a rational number. It is reduced to its simplest terms. If the denominator is more than four digits or the number cannot be expressed as a fraction, the decimal equivalent is given.
Press
.

Display an
expression as
a fraction.

Display a
sequence as
fractions.
Some numbers
cannot be
expressed as
a fraction.

g. value % This will divide the value by 100 (or equivalently, multiply it by .01). percent % number will evaluate the percent of the number.
Press
.

Write 25 and
330 as percents.
Evaluate 35%
of 258.

h. pEval (coefficientList,Xvalue) This will evaluate a polynomial at a given value. You enter the coefficients of the polynomial and the value for evaluation.
Press
.

Example: Evaluate the polynomial at x=7. You will have to put the coefficients inside brackets { }. These can be accessed on the catalog or in the LIST menu by pressing .

i. You use this key to evaluate a root. You enter the root, then the function key, then the value. You can use this key, or you can enter the root as an exponent.
Press
.

Example: Evaluate using the root key and using a rational exponent.

j. eval value This is a way to evaluate a function that is in the graph menu at a given number. All of the functions that are "on" will be evaluated.
Press
.

Enter two
functions in
the graph window.

the home screen
at several values.
