F. Logarithmic Functions

The TI-86 will graph the natural logarithm, y=ln x, and the common logarithm, y=log x. However, graphing functions in other bases requires use of the Change of Base Property.

1. Natural Logarithms and Common Logarithms

These functions can be entered directly. Parentheses must be placed around the function terms.

Example: Enter the functions shown.

2. Other Bases

Functions such as cannot be entered directly, so you will have to use the Change of Base Property to rewrite the function as .
