INTRODUCTION

This collection of 16 projects is keyed to the 16 chapters in Mathematics for Elementary Teachers, Fourth Edition by Gary L. Musser and William F. Burger. The 16 projects serve to connect the mathematics topics discussed in the text with relevant topics on multicultural mathematics and gender equity in the mathematics classroom. Mathematics activities for elementary and/or teacher education students are presented, along with research results on gender equity and multicultural education. Practical ideas for enhancing the equity of the classroom are included, as well as ideas for student reflection and growth.
