What am I going to wear?
People base their opinions about you in 30 seconds or less on what they see. They make judgments as to who you are and what your character might be before you can say, ĄThanks for the interview. This includes reviewing your clothes, hair, smile, carriage, and nonverbal communications. Appearances count big time.
Even though the business casual trend remains in place, it”s best to go dressed conservatively to the interview. This means, simply suit up. Whether you are a man or woman, a conservative business suit is usually the safest way to go. Keep jewelry to a minimum. Don”t wear perfume or aftershave and make sure your hair is groomed and recently cut. Carry a small portfolio or briefcase for extra copies of your resume. Ladies, do wear pantyhose and closed shoes. The times you will want to disregard the conservative look is only if your counselor, interviewer or staffing organization tells you to.
