Tools for Card Sorting

• IBM's EZSort was the first program created specifically for computing the cluster analyses from card sorting. It pioneered the use of a dendrogram to display the results of the cluster analysis. A beta release is available for download.
• The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) created WebCAT to test either proposed or existing categorization schemes to determine how well the categories are understood by users.
• Information and Design, a company in Australia, created Classified as a tool for evaluating existing categorization structures.
• By far the best card sorting program in existance is Jorge Toro's CardZort. It capitalizes on the metaphor of playing cards on a tabletop to offer a natural interface as well as providing the most powerful analysis tools currently available.
