platforms that is available free of charge! The company claims
that the software is running on over 2,000,000 servers worldwide.
An interesting alternative to Oracle or SQL Server for those

of Microsoft SQL Server databases.

Professional Associations
- The International Oracle Users Group (IOUG)
Their web site can be found at www.ioug.org.
They provide training, advice, forums and book reviews to
members.
- The Oracle Applications Users Group (OAUG)
Dedicated to users of Oracle business applications. They promote
education, networking, communications and information sharing
among their members. You can find them at www.oaug.org.
- The International DB2 Users Group (www.idug.org)
This group sponsors conferences and forms regional
users groups to foster communication between DB2 professionals.
They also publish the IDUG Solutions Journal triannually.
The web site contains discussion forums and links to DB2 resources.
- Professional Association for SQL Server (www.sqlpass.org)
A professional organization, much like IDUG above,
but focused on SQL Server.

of Access 2000. Clear illustrations support the text.
- SQL for Dummies, Allen G. Taylor, Hungry Minds, Inc.,
ISBN 0-764-50737-0. Does a good job of explaining the design
of SQL databases in simple terms. Although it does start off
with a chapter on relational databases, reading about relational
database theory prior to reading this book will help you get
more out of it.
