OPERATIONS MANAGEMENT EXERCISE
Using the Ten Decision Check List Approach

Objective: To further your understanding of Operations Management by observing real live examples of a transformation process. Focus on the opportunities a firm has to improve operations by examining both the goods and the services provided. Develop specific possible opportunities for productivity improvement.

Instructions: Using the ten decisions of OM (quality, product, process, location, layout, human resources, inventory, scheduling, supply chain, and maintenance) review the operation of a fast-food restaurant such as McDonald's, Taco Bell, KFC, Wendy's, etc. Using the structure below, note specific examples that illustrate improvements that might be made. Begin by noting the "Current Method" and then follow with the "Suggested Improvement."
