This software provides detailed demographic information about selected market areas within the United States. It is derived from the 1990 Census and other sources. The software can print reports containing demographic data profiles.
Directions to Run PCensus
The installer program generates a folder called C:\PCENSUSD. Go to that folder and then double click on the PCENSUSW application file to open the program.
Obtaining Demographic Data on Washington State: Point and click on the New Project option in the Startup Choice window. Then point and click on the Map icon in the upper toolbar. Choose the State of Washington for the Study Area Type and the Bellingham Demo Database for the database option. Then point and click on the Search Database box.
Click on the down button in the bottom left hand corner Category box to view the demographic characteristics of Washington State. This program includes 212 demographic categories. You can view the entire page by pointing and dragging the mouse on the vertical scroll bar located on the right-hand side of the Study Area browser.
To obtain further demographic information on Washington State, point and click your mouse in the header button description column. In the Browser Menu box that appears, point and click on Select category. Choose a category such as Age (PO13). You can print the results of your search by clicking on the Print button in the upper toolbar.
Obtaining Demographic Data on One or More Counties: Select the New Project option at the Startup Choice window. Then point and click on the Map icon in the upper toolbar to create a New Study Area. Then select the County in the Study Area Type panel. Select Benton County and then point and click on the Add button. Finally, point and click on the Search Database button. You now can see a description of Benton County on 212 categories. By adding additional counties, the program automatically calculates the total demographic characteristics of the combined areas.
