TAKE THE OPINION POLL!

There is Room for the Commuter to Get Involved

  1. JUST DO IT! Find something that will help you connect with campus life.

  2. Find an organization that meets right after one of your classes, so you do not have to spend extra time coming back to campus for meetings.

  3. Find an activity that matches your academic or career interests.

  4. If you work, select an activity that will not conflict with your work schedule.

  5. Many campuses have specific organizations for off-campus students. If your campus has one, check it out!

  6. Form an intramural sports team with other students living in your apartment complex or neighborhood.

  7. If you are interested in volunteer work, select a service agency near your house or apartment.

  8. Check out any special services your campus provides off-campus students.

  9. Offer to host any small group meetings for your organization or study group at your place. Providing a place to meet can be a huge help to other students.

  10. Get involved in campus issues that directly affect you and other commuter students; e.g.: parking, affordable housing and shuttle buses.
