One Student's Journey

Thank You

Ahhhhh... Thanksgiving break. Though it may have seemed far too short, I've got to say that Thanksgiving was a really nice time. So in the spirit of the holiday, for this week's column I've made a short list of things for which I am thankful. Some of them are just your basic college-kid things, and some of them are special to me. Enjoy!

All Duke students should be thankful for:

  1. The semester drawing to a close (no more Calculus! Hooray!)
  2. The Duke-Arizona game (or should I just say the DUKE game), which gave us the trophy from the Maui Invitational
  3. Once again being able to let our rooms get as messy as we want without our parents complaining
  4. Tenting season, which officially began yesterday
  5. South Park
  6. Sleep, when you can get it
  7. Trinity Cafe
  8. Real ice cream at the Marketplace
  9. Apathy (especially concerning term papers)
  10. Having a car at college
  11. Photo ops and semiformals (which are one and the same)
  12. Hall activities
  13. Gothic architecture
  14. Grade inflation
  15. The Chronicle

And personally, I'm thankful for:

  1. Mom and Dad, my sister and my brother-in-law
  2. My GGGRRRRRREAT friends at Duke
  3. This column... and everyone who has supported it!
  4. The Duke TV station
  5. Home cookin'... and Honey's
  6. Jon
  7. The Call Home America long-distance phone plan
  8. Love songs
  9. Flannel sheets
  10. Inside jokes
  11. SpellCheck
  12. The all-freshman East Campus plan
  13. The nice girl who relieved me from tenting last night
  14. Term papers (uh... no, never mind)
